A HOUSE OF CRIME AND SHAME

No sooner had the phony woyane parliament been able to settle in the haunted house of horror than Zenawi embarked on his campaign of terror and intimidation by repealing the immunity rights of the Ethiopian Opposition MPs.

Attack on the Opposition is not only a vivid manifestation of the despotism of Zenawi but it also gives a clear picture of how the fraudulent parliament works, where the tyrant does almost anything he wants by manipulating the constitution to suit his own personal interest.

What we have witnessed is that, the first priority of the vicious dictator is to stifle the Opposition and to reign fear and terror among his own appointees, the TPLF/EPRDF ‘MP’s, the majority of whom should not have been there had it not been for vote stealing and fraud. All of these ‘MP’s, the candidature of whom has to be approved by Zenawi before they join the woyane criminal syndicate, owe their privileges to him, consider themselves as his appointees and their allegiance is only to the tyrant. They can not do anything that puts their allegiance into question and, as a result, they have turned themselves into willing and loyal slaves of Zenawi. Fear of expulsion and repression therefore dominate their lives. They have no right and no voice except carrying out orders of their master.

Lack of transparency, corruption, embezzlement of public funds and nepotism runs through the spine of the woyane bureaucracy and parliament. It is the breeding house for sedition, lies and deceit where crime is manufactured and administered as a routine business of the ‘government’ to paralyse, imprison, torture and murder Ethiopian citizens. Crime runs through every tentacle of the woyane parliament.

Many innocent citizens are abducted from their homes daily and disappear with out trace. Journalists, trade unionists etc are routinely dragged from their homes in the cover of darkness, into police stations and courts.

Murders and imprisonment have become daily occurrence that people are no more alarmed by the brutality of the regime. Zenawi and his woyane cronies have become synonymous with death and destruction among the Ethiopian public.

Nobody is accountable for the numerous crimes committed and only the barbaric cadres who carry out orders of the fascist regime know what has happened to the many thousands of victims tortured, killed and have disappeared in the last 14 years.

The woyane bogus parliament that has been set up by stealing votes and fraud and run by criminal gangsters can not be expected to do otherwise. The parliament has proved to be nothing but an instrument to put into practice Zenawi’s system of ethnically based divide and rule which at its core practices human rights abuses and the suppression of democracy and justice.

Zenawi’s terror campaign to silence and destroy the Ethiopian popular Opposition , yet again, shows the most aggravated form of his evil dictatorship. The tyrant has chosen to stand above the constitutional law of the country to intimidate and attack elected parliamentarians who have stood up for the people who voted for them. The use of brute force and violent intimidation, murder and detention should be condemned by all who stand for justice and democracy.

The incrimination, the arbitrariness and false accusations drummed up by Zenawi against the Opposition should be exposed and condemned. We can not allow conspirators disguised as mediators, to weaken the aspiration of the Ethiopian people to bring about a sustainable and just democratic transition.

The Ethiopian people and their leaders have emphatically said NO! to repression and tyranny. Those who have are part of the woyane parliament should realize that, by supporting such brutal and anti-democratic policies of the tyrant, they are creating a system under which they themselves will be the next victims. Many former supporters of Zenawi whom he has now locked up in prison bear witness to this fact. Woyane’s phony parliament is a tool of repression and dictatorship and those who serve in it either out of need or conviction are endorsing the criminal acts of Zenawi against the Ethiopian people.

The logical conclusion is very clear: either there is a political system, which allows the full democratic rights of our people and that respects human rights, accommodates differences of opinion, or a repressive and dictatorial system such as that run by Zenawi and his henchmen. There can be no other way.
